MeLlisa Dennis, P.C.

Community Support Specialist

Ms. Dennis is a deaf counseling professional who graduated from Clarkston High School in 2003. She pursued her goal to become a preschool teacher as she attended Atlanta Technology College, receiving her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.  She then wanted to continue her education in a broader field to assist a wider range of people, so she attended Rochester Institute of Technology, where she received her Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice.

Eager to learn more and to grow personally and professionally, she decided to attend Gallaudet University, where, in 2010, she earned her Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling, with a specialty in Deafness. During her studies at Gallaudet University, Ms. Dennis received specialized training in domestic violence with the Deaf Abused Women’s Network (DAWN), and training in working with deaf clients with additional disabilities.

Her work experience includes, but is not limited to, working with deaf adults at Deaf-REACH  and  Keeping The Promise for diverse college students  in Washington DC, and at Lexington Mental Health Center with children and parents in Queens New York.  Ms. Dennis’ emphasis is on prevention and the promotion of optimum mental health.
